What it is: Green tea is prepared by drying the leaves collected from the plant Camelia sinensis. It is quite popular in the countries of eastern Asia. Green tea is a significant source of antioxidant polyphenols, mainly epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG).

How it works: Antioxidants are natural ingredients that contribute to fighting free radicals that are harmful to the body, and which cause diseases such as cancer and cardiovascular disease. Polyphenols, known as catechins, are beneficial antioxidant substances, which literally “invade” the human body, protecting it from many diseases such as sore throat and cold, and more severe ones such as cancer, heart disease and hypercholesterolemia.
