What it is: It is also known as "devil's claw", a plant grown in South Africa, mainly on sandy or rocky soils. Its distinctive fruits are woody, oval capsules with two central thorns and two side rows from 12 to 16 sharp thorns in the shape of hook (grabbers), that contain brown and black oblong, coarse seeds.

How it works: : Its main substances, responsible for its high efficiency, are harpagoside and beta-sitosterol. According to traditional medicine, it has been used for years to relieve pain. Modern studies confirm its activity in reducing inflammation and relieving the symptoms of joint diseases.
