What it is: Buckeye tree or, horse chestnut (scientific name: Aesculus hippocastanum,) is a tree that is mainly grown in the Balkans and in the greater area of Europe.

How it works: Its bark contains substances, such as coumarine, which have phlebotomic properties. It seems that its administration contributes to the relief of the symptoms related to venous insufficiency (edemas, heavy calves), the reduction of pain in lower limbs and varicose veins, and it helps blood circulation and soothes the pain of hemorrhoidal crises.
