What it is: Sea Buckthorn (Hippophae L.) is a deciduous shrub that belongs to the Eleagnaceae family

How it works: Sea buckthorn leaves contain large quantities of calcium, magnesium, calcium, beta-carotene, flavonoids, lycopene, polyphenols and vitamin Ε that generally fight free radicals. Antioxidants and flavonoids can lower cholesterol, following studies that have been conducted. Moreover, if lycopene is added to our daily diet, it has been proven to reduce the chances of development of cancers of the prostate, stomach and intestine. Dried sea buckthorn leaves are rich in polyunsaturated fats, edible fibers, proteins, minerals, trace elements and carbohydrates. They have high content of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Moreover, sea buckthorn leaves have something that is not contained in the fruit – that is, protein in a percentage of 24%.
